Rooted in stillness-the calmness of tea gardens

There is a kind of silence that truly lives in the tea gardens of Sreemangal. It’s not an empty silence — it hums with the wind moving through the leaves, the gentle rustle of greenery, the towering shade trees, and the inner stillness that rises when no one is watching. Many of my earliest memories are rooted there. Not just any green — but structured, calm, endless green that shaped the rhythm of my childhood.

My father worked as a physician in the tea gardens for more than two decades. I spent countless days walking through shaded paths, watching workers gently pluck tea leaves, and sitting in quiet corners doing absolutely nothing. That “doing nothing” taught me more than any classroom ever could. It taught me presence. Observation. Quiet joy. A way of being that continues to guide my life.

Those tea garden days carried a rhythm of their own — no rush, no noise, no competition. Just the slow unfolding of nature and the feeling of being part of something vast, gentle, and deeply grounding. I return to these memories whenever life feels overwhelming. They remind me that stillness can be an anchor, that green spaces can hold us, and that silence can heal more deeply than words.

Mindful Table was born from that stillness — from the quiet lessons I continue to carry in my heart. It is a space to share stories, reflections, and mindful moments that bring us back to what truly nourishes.

Gentle Reminder:
Take a pause today. Even for a minute. Step into a quiet corner, breathe deeply, and let stillness wrap around you — the same way the tea gardens once wrapped around me.
